Ten graduate and undergraduate students came together from Maryland Institute College of Arts and Willem de Kooning Academy to create the following work. Our goal was to visualize any data of our choice by using a motion capture suit. We decided to visualize the actions we did daily.
We used the motion capture suit and the Wekinator to teach the machine our gestures based off three rituals.
We used Unity to convert the movements into linear data, then applied it to 2D and 3D formats.
The 2D linear data was applied to a plotter in order to create posters that displayed all the data as a whole.
Password: Unlocking our phones is a ritual we perform every day, almost like muscle memory.
Vernacular: Hand movements in different cultures that are used to communicate with others.
Prayer: Actions performed in a religious setting to express our faith.
